New People

Olga, a 16 year old a high school student, was with some friends and received a flyer that students from our Bible school were passing out on the streets. That evening Olga and her friends came to an evangelism concert in our coffee house. When she first came, she was not really interested in the concert, but she shared with us later that her heart was attracted and captivated not by the music but by something else. Olga didn’t know that it was the Holy Spirit. Lena Lyamina, who is a second year student, talked with and prayed for her after the concert. The next Sunday Olga repented and asked Jesus into her life and things began changing in her heart. Malice and mistrust are gone and now Olga worships the Lord in a great sense of joy and freedom.

In our last newsletter, we wrote the testimony of Andrei’s salvation. He is a delivered former heroin addict from the Ukraine. His wife, Katya, 27 years old did not realize that her husband was a heroin addict until she noticed things were missing from there home. Katya made many attempts to help her husband, but nothing helped. Although she was an unbeliever, she had a dream from God, where He came to her. After that dream Katya realized that only the Lord could help her husband. After Andrei came to the Lord, he started witnessing to Katya. She came to one of our Sunday meetings and she gave her heart to Christ. Katya and Andrei are both students at the Bible Boot Camp classes for new believers. Katya was freed from smoking after one of the Bible studies. God is wonderful!

News from the Rehab Center

The Lord is continuing to work in the lives of the guys in our center. Igor, Sasha and Sergei, who have been in the center for more than 6 months, are becoming older brothers to the newer guys.

Yulia Germanova, who went through our rehab program one year ago, visited her parents in Monchegorsk (in the Murmansk region) and preached to her neighbor Pavel. She told him about what Jesus has done for her and that he can be helped in the rehab center. Pavel is 23 years old and was addicted to heroin for 4 years. While working in a factory, he stole precious metals and was sentenced and put in jail for two years. He came to us with a broken leg and broken life saying that rehab is the last hope for him. Pavel has hepatitis A, B, C, D and HIV, which is not unusual here, especially after a combination of drug addiction and prison.. Please pray for his miraculous healing and continued hunger to follow the Lord and grow in His grace. On his first night in the rehab center, the guys shared about God’s power and prayed for Pavel that he could sleep and not experience any withdrawals. It was a great miracle and testimony of God’s love! Pavel gave his heart to Jesus the next morning after not having any withdrawals!

Andrei, 21 years old, came to us two weeks ago form Nevskya Dubovka a suburb of St. Petersburg. Andrei was a heroin addict more then 4 years. He stayed for 8 days with us and then left. Later that same evening he called us, saying that he was wrong and wanted to come back. The Lord delivered him from smoking and a heroin addiction. Please pray for the new guys for their continual growth, and for more and more hunger to know the Lord, His ways and His purpose for their lives.

Highlights from Murmansk and Cheliabinsk

A team of our Bible teachers, students and worship and evangelism team was invited to minister at a youth conference “Taste of Heaven” in Murmansk in the NW of Russia and Cheliabinsk in Urals. We had a blessed time teaching in the seminars about worship, evangelism and the prophetic. We also had a worship night, an evangelism concert and Sunday service from 28th till 30th of March in Murmansk. Here is a response from pastor Konstantin Grohovski in Murmansk.

Dear friends;

Hello! I would like to share with you our first impressions and results from the conference, which we had from 28th till 30th of March in Murmansk.

I found out after your departure that Rosta, one of the districts of Murmansk, where we had our conference, was a place inhabited by Lopars (the north native people) who actively practiced shamanism. That is why Rosta is the most depressed district in Murmansk. Before, it was a village but later it has merged with the city.

Many of those who came to the night worship were seriously touched by the Lord, in spite of the fact that all the songs were new. The presence of the Lord was so strong people did not notice how 2 1/2 hours passed by! Their hearts were filled with worship to God!

Prophetic ministry was a strong inspiration for the young people. I was sitting in the hall there and watching them. People who received prophetic ministry were shining with joy from God. I saw that people were encouraged and they were ready to move forward in God’s power. We were very blessed in the seminars when we really understood that we can do it too! Prophetic and moving in prophetic worship are real for us.

The biggest encouragement for me was the evangelism concert. Amazingly, the subculture kids were sitting quietly and listened to the songs. The most important thing was that believers were not just sitting there, they talked to unbelievers. Their boldness was growing during the evangelism. One of our leaders noticed that the Christians reminded him of sharks, not missing an opportunity to minister to any unbeliever. I haven’t seen them so inspired in a long time. It really touched me! Approximately 30 people decided to come to our home groups, some of them repented right at the concert. It was so good to see many people interested in coming, most metal heads and punks that came were from other parts of the city.

The Christians were going home on busses and singing aloud, praising God and preaching on the busses. I am very satisfied by the results of the conference, because the purposes were reached.

Yesterday we had a leadership meeting, where we shared our impressions from the conference and thoughts about the direction we should move in the future. Your example showed us a lot; you showed us practically how you live and also what way we need to go. The first thing is a deep search of the Lord’s face and hunger. God has already started to move this way with us but your coming was a shove for us that helped us to move more quickly. We can have God more in our lives than we think! A high standard of holiness, walking in spiritual gifts, priority of God’s presence in what we do, simplicity and openness!

I feel it is too early to write about fruit, but I believe I see things are changing.

Greetings to your team from the young people of Murmansk. We were very blessed through you. Your willingness to serve touched us! Thank you! Our young people liked you very much and they are waiting to see you again.

We apologize for all technical and organizational mix-ups.

Abundant blessings! Konstantin Grohovski

(Since returning to St Pete, we have received several phone calls that they have people saved and filled with the Holy Spirit in their home groups from that evangelism concert. Praise the Lord!)

The Cheliabinsk conference was mainly about the prophetic, as that was what the local pastors wanted us to teach on. There were pastors, leaders and brethren from 14 churches from Cheliabinsk and the surrounding area, which is in the Asian part of Russia. We travelled 42 hours on the train each way and shared the Gospel to passengers as we travelled. People were very hungry and open for the things from the Lord, people were very inspired to follow him and they got many answers to their questions. Eight people came to the Lord during the worship night and Sunday service, praise God! One of these was a youth who was invited to the conference by some of his Christian friends. He came into the area where we were selling books, tapes, t-shirts, and other merchandise and bought a t-shirt that said ‘Forgiven’, not knowing what it meant. He put on the shirt and returned later for the worship night, where he repented.

Miscellaneous

At our last citywide worship and intercession night there were brethren from 21 churches, which was the most ever. We are very excited that the Lord continues to bring people together to worship Him and intercede for others.

The Lord continues to draw people to Himself in our evangelism coffee-house, concerts and Sundays. Our Bible school students and staff continue to reach out to unsaved young people at the student dorms and to places where youth hang out.

Thank you again for your faith and care and for joining us in prayer. We thank and praise the Lord often for you!
