NEWS FROM STREETCRY MINISTRIES
ST. PETERSBURG, RUSSIA
JULY, 2005
Dear friends,
As always, it is a privilege to share with you the deeds of our awesome God. He never stops to amaze us with His goodness and care. Thank you for everything you are doing for us through your prayers, love, and support. We love and appreciate you a lot!
BIBLE SCHOOL OUTREACH
Students
from our Bible school and two staff members traveled to Uralsk, Kazakhstan for
two weeks to put into practice much of what the learned over the past year.
Young people of the local church joined with the team for personal witnessing.
It started with one, but soon increased to five. They met every morning for
a class on witnessing led by one of the team members, prayed and then went out
witnessing. The Lord really encouraged the young people from the church by using
them to lead 3 people to the Lord! This has helped to break the strong hold
of “why go out and approach unknown people with the Gospel!”
A
backslider, who opened up his home for the team, witnessed a friend and a cousin
came to the Lord. One night Sergei spent the whole night talking to the friend
- he did not pray with Sergei but later on prayed at home and now was really
changed and asked for a Bible, which of course we gave him. The cousin, who
is a teenaged girl, spent one evening with us and Zhenya talked to her a great
deal - she was adamant, but as she came home - repented and was also really
changed and showed a lot of hunger for the things of the Lord.
Sergei
with the help of the pastor was able to talk with chief narcologist of the city
and region. He introduced Sergei to several organizations dealing with drug
addicts in the city and region. They all got information about our work with
drug addicts. Sergei went to the main clinic and witnessed to the group of guys
who are in the clinic for 2 months to go through withdrawals from heroine. He
prayed for them in the presence of the Muslim doctors and the Holy Spirit was
so strong during this meeting that even some of the doctors were in tears.
EVANGELISM
Zina and Sveta came to one of the evangelism concerts and were witnessed to by two guys in our fellowship. They both gave they hearts to Jesus and started to come to our building almost daily, as were hungry for the Lord. A few days after their repentance they received the baptism with the Spirit at an intercession meeting. They have been coming to our home groups and classes for new believers.
Two girls from our fellowship were out witnessing in a park in St. Petersburg. They met girl named Katya. She was very receptive to the gospel and they led her to the Lord right in the park. She has also been regularly attending our fellowship and classes for new believers.
People have also been repenting during our fellowship. One girl from another church brought an unsaved friend to one of our services. After the service we were witnessing and she received the Lord and repented of her sins. Valodia came to one of our services assuming he was a believer. Sergei talked to him and understood he was not born again. He shared the gospel with Valodia and he gave his heart to the Lord.
We were invited to have a concert in Sablino, a small village outside of St. Petersburg. Leonid, who was a drug addict for over 17 years and now a pastor of the church, and Roma, as well a former drug addict and member in the church both have a vision to reach the youth in the area. has a vision to work with the young people there. The concert gathered around 150 youth. Many were touched by the Lord both during the concert and time of witnessing and ministring afterwards. They are now having weekly meetings for the youth of the area.
Please, pray for these new believers that they will keep following Jesus, grow in the Lord, be protected and kept from the enemy’s attacks, and that we can effectively minister to them as needed.
MINISTRY TO DRUG ADDICTS
Sergei, a former drug addict who has been through rehabilitation and recently finished the first year of Bible school, is responsible for our 24-hour Hotline for drug addicts. The phone number has been spread across different parts of Russia and drug addicts or relatives from all over the country are calling for help. Sergei talks to them and tries to help them to get contact with a center if they desire rehabilitation. He is also ministering weekly to drug addicts at our building when he interviews people who want rehabilitation he is witnessing to them, leading some to the Lord or praying for them for deliverance and getting them in touch with different rehab centers for their rehabilitation.
HEALING
At our services, we keep sharing words of knowledge about healing. Olga received a word about sinus problems. Our sister, Varia came for prayer. At the next meeting she testified how the Lord healed her. Another word was about a leg that needed healing. As they prayed for a woman she felt how the pain left her leg and she was completely healed. These are just a few examples how the Lord is continuing to heal people.
Thank you for being such a support to us through your prayers, love, friendship, and financial help. We are very thankful for you! May the Lord bless you abundantly and keep you close to His heart!
