NEWS FROM STREETCRY MINISTRIES
ST. PETERSBURG, RUSSIA
DECEMBER 2005

Dear Friends,

We truly serve an awesome God! Words can not express our gratitude for your help through support and prayers. We love and appreciate you a lot. We pray that you have a wonderful Christmas while much of the world stops and reflects on the impact of the birth, life, death, resurrection and continued influence of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, the true King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

EVANGELISM

We have a team that witnesses weekly to prostitutes in the city. For a long time the team was praying for a car and a driver for this ministry. This would get the girls off of the street, out of the bitter cold, and provide a place where they could talk over a cup of hot tea. The Lord answered their prayers and we have a minivan and driver that has joined this ministry team! Recently they met Natasha on the street and the Lord had showed Himself real to her on different occasions, but she never repented. Natasha and her friend Yulia went into the van and Natasha prayed with the team to receive the Lord and was moved to tears as the Lord touched her.

There is another team that regularly preaches the gospel in university dormitories. This team met two girls, Olga and Irina and witnessed to them. They came to one of our services and were profoundly touched by the Lord. After Olga returned home that night, she repented and gave her life to the Lord. A girl named Valeria was witnessed to and received the Lord. Natasha also heard the gospel and gave her heart to Jesus at the dorm.

The Bible school students are going out weekly to witness on the streets of St. Petersburg. As a part of their practical training, they are getting assigned different tasks, which help them to grow and get them out of their comfort zones. A recent task was to find a homeless person, a drug addict, or an alcoholic to share the gospel with. As a result, Sergei, an alcoholic, was led to the Lord.

Please pray that these new Christian brothers and sisters will keep following the Lord with all their hearts and be protected and kept from the enemy’s ways, and that we can minister to them with love and care.

Surganova, a very popular lesbian singer, performed a concert recently. We sent a team to minister to the confused, lost and lonely girls who follow Surganova. We had a special tract printed that had a message of hope and freedom that's found only in Christ! We also had a tract testifying how the Lord set Zhenya free from a lesbian lifestyle which witnessed to many of the girls. Surganova also got tracts, as a team member gave them to her when she was signing autographs.

PRISON EVANGELISM

Our evangelism band, together with another band Bethesda, traveled several hours to Vologda, a small city close to Moscow. Gleb, who oversees a large prison ministry in that area, had invited the groups to minister in two different prisons. One for men, where he repented while serving time five years earlier, and also a prison for women.

After he was released, he went back to witness regularly and he has led people to the Lord.. Now there is a church in the prison with 40 men regularly coming to the services. Over 500 prisoners attended our concert. Gosha, a first year Bible school student and former drug addict, served his last sentence in that prison. Many of the inmates recognized Gosha and the Spirit of God moved in a strong way as he shared his testimony. When there was an altar call, several in the auditorium repented.

There were about 200 in the audience at the concert in the women’s prison. Many were hungry for God. Olga, a team member and a former drug addict, ministered to a girl whom she knew when she was an inmate in another prison. Another sister, Natasha, was witnessing to a woman who seemed really hardened and unapproachable. She challenged Natasha and asked her to answer a question that no one was able answer before. Natasha prayed and then gave her the answer. The woman was in tears as Natasha continued to minister to her.

HEALING

While going to witness at a university dorm, Natasha noticed that the receptionist’s hands were covered with scabs because of an allergy. The doctors could not help the woman. Natasha offered to lay hands on her and pray for healing. One week later, Natasha returned, and instead of words of greeting, the woman showed her hands to Natasha. They were totally clean!

OTHER NEWS

On October 29th, we celebrated the ten year anniversary of our ministry here in St. Petersburg. At the service, we showed pictures from the birth of our ministry and its development over the years. When we started ten years ago, we had nothing but a vision to reach out to the lost young generation here in St Petersburg. Shortly after we came here the Lord told us prophetically that we would be a music and evangelistic ministry and that we HAD everything we needed which included a facility, music equipment, staff and much more. At that point, we were a team of five adults and a child with almost no monthly support, no musicians, no equipment and no building! But in our hearts, we knew that what God said was true, and as we believed and praised Him for supplying everything we needed, the ministry began to take shape, and we were able to see with our eyes and touch with our hands everything He had told us we already had! We praise the Lord for how He has fulfilled His word and we believe there is so much more to come.

Thank you for your continued prayers for our feed-in for the homeless and an evangelism outreach/feed-in for addicts and other youth during Christmas. We are still in need of funding for this. The expenses for the 2 feed-ins will be $5,000 and we have $1000 already.

We are also in need of more monthly financial partnering help. As we have shared in the past, the ministry is able to function well with $10,000 per month. This covers all of the expenses of the ministry - including training 22 Bible school students, and a staff of 16, the printing of tracts, taking teams to other cities, weekly services, prison ministry, children's church, evangelism concerts, and much more. We still desperately need a base facility and one is now available for $300,000. If you can help with any of these needs, we would be truly grateful!

We keep praying for every blessing upon your lives! Have a wonderful Christ -filled Christmas and New Year!

Sincerely,

John, Sara, Roma, Anya, Vera, and the StreetCry Ministry team
